UK Statutory Instruments – Reference Field
The Reference field in the UK Statutory Instruments database on Justis contains the number and year of the Statutory Instrument. For example:
1996 No. 282
To search for a Statutory Instrument, the reference must either be in the format “2001/1”, or else start with “SI” or “Statutory Reference”
Draft SIs do not always have numbers; the word “Draft” can be displayed instead of the number, or included in the title.
1991 No. Draft
The Unfair Dismissal (Increase of Limits of Basic and Special Awards) Order 1989
Laid before Parliament in draft
There are subsidiary series for Commencement Orders (C.), Northern Ireland Orders (N.I.), Scotland (S.) (prior to the start of the Scottish Parliament) and Local SIs (L.), for example:
1996 No. 3163 (N.I. 26)
1997 No. 2948 (S. 187)
1997 No. 2843 (C. 107)
1997 No. 2826 (C. 106) (S. 179)
1991 No. 1247 (L. 20)
The entry in this field is shown in the Reference column on the Results screen.
This field is part of the Heading group.
Partial references
If you have an incomplete or incorrect reference, you may be able to narrow your search by using a partial reference. For example:
2002/1
will retrieve both the UK and the Scottish Statutory Instruments.
Publication Reference Formats
A complete and current list of formats that are recognised by J-Link and can be used in the Reference field is available in the Support section of the Justis website. The items include:
