CELEX – Defendant Field (defendan)

The Defendant field in the CELEX database on Justis is part of the All Persons group, and contains the name of the defending institution (e.g. Commission, European Parliament) or country, or where appropriate, the keywords “Official” or “Person”. For example:

Defendant	Belgium
Defendant	Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market

In the Outline, this field is called “Defendant”.

In documents, this field is shown as “Defendant”.

If you want to use the Defendant field on the Quick Search screen or in the Full Text box on the Search In EU screen, its name is “defendan”, and you can use a search such as:

defendan[belgium or luxembourg]

Used only in the Case Law database (Sector 6).
