UK Statutory Instruments – Extent Field

The Extent field in the UK Statutory Instruments database on Justis contains the name of the geographical area or jurisdiction to which the Statutory Instrument applies. Some SIs include the ISBN in this field, but it is more often found at the end of the document, not within a field. For example:

Territorial extent & classification: E/W/S/NI. General.

Territorial extent & classification: E/W. General. - 0 11 099086 2

Territorial extent & classification: E/W. Local. - 0 11 099093 5

Territorial extent & classification: E/W/S/NI. General. - Supersedes draft SI (ISBN 0110988744). - Implements DIR 79/279/EEC, DIR 80/390/EEC, DIR 82/121/EEC & partly implements DIR 89/298/EEC. DIR 80/390/EEC has been amended by DIR 82/148/EEC, 87/345/EEC, & 90/211/EEC & Parliament DIR 94/18/EC- 0 11 099075 7

England is normally abbreviated to “E”, Wales to “W”, Scotland to “S”, and Northern Ireland to “NI”.

This field is not used after the year 2000.
