UK Statutory Instruments – Enabling Act Field
The Enabling Act field in the UK Statutory Instruments database on Justis contains information about the Act on which the Statutory Instrument is based. For example:
Enabling power: Value Added Tax Act 1994, ss. 31 (2), 96 (9). -
Unfortunately, this field is not used after 1999, and so does not provide a reliable method of identifying all of the SIs involved in the implementation of an Act of Parliament. For a better method, please see Finding implemented Acts of Parliament.
If you have access to the UK Statutes database, then you can see the full text of the Act:
- select the short title (e.g. Value Added Tax Act 1994) with your mouse;
- click “J-Link” in the Document Actions panel.
