CELEX – Case Law References Field (natcourt)


The Case Law References field in the CELEX database on Justis is part of the General group, and contains references to judgments, orders or decisions of national courts that refer the case for a preliminary ruling by the Court of Justice or the Court of First Instance of the European Communities. Publication references for case reports are often included. For example:

Earlier legal acts that are referred to in the court’s judgment are indicated by a letter “A” and a sequential number. Subsequent legal acts that refer to the court’s judgment are indicated by a letter “P” and a sequential letter.

In the Outline, this field is called “Case Law References”.

In documents, this field is shown as “Case Law References”.

If you want to use the Case Law References field on the Quick Search screen or in the Full Text box on the Search In EU screen, its name is “natcourt”, and you can use a search such as:

natcourt[admiralty court]

Used only in the Case Law database (Sector 6).

To see the one of the referenced documents:

  1. select a document reference (for example The Law Reports ; Chancery Division 1991 p.48-74) by dragging slowly over it with your mouse;
  2. click “J-Link” in the Document Actions panel.
