CELEX – Date of End of Validity Field (endval)


The Date of End of Validity field in the CELEX database on Justis is part of the DATE group, and contains the date of the end of validity. For example:

Date of End of Validity     2001/12/31
Date of End of Validity     9999/99/99

The date 9999/99/99 is used for documents that are not intended to expire on a particular date.

The entry in this field can be amended, for example when a proposal or an opinion is adopted, rejected or withdrawn.

Date searching in this field is restricted to searching for an exact or truncated date; the date search operators are not available. It is possible to use a search such as "2001 and 12", but this will find documents for the 12th day of the month as well as for December.

In the Outline, this field is called “Date of End of Validity”.

In documents, this field is shown as “Date of End of Validity”.

If you want to use the Date of End of Validity field on the Quick Search screen or in the Full Text box on the Search In EU screen, its name is “endval”, and you can use a search such as:

endval[2001/12*]

Used in the Treaties database (Sector 1), the External Agreements database (Sector 2), the Legislation database (Sectors 3 and 4), the Proposals database (Sector 5), and the EFTA Documents database (Sector E).
